Something Charlie, Dan and I were nattering about was sharing some of our techniques on the forums, for easier reference we'll stick the names of what we're painting in the subject line. All these techniques won't fit in the darned subject line so I apologise for lack of reference line on this one!
Rust:
1) Basecoat Dark Flesh
2) Using a drybrush stipple on Vermin Brown
3) Stipple on Blazing Orange (steps 2 and 3 are progressively lighter)
4) Drybrush Boltgun Metal
5) Wash with dilute (1:10) Black Ink or oil wash.
Oil Wash
1) Mix approximately 2/3 Chaos Black and 1/3 Snakebite Leather.
2) Dilute about 1:10 then slosh on the oily area!
Gold
1) Basecoat Chainmail (optional but gives a stronger gold)
2) Basecoat Shining Gold
3) Shading Wash in dilute Chestnut Ink
4) Highlight with 50:50 mix of Shining Gold and Mithril Silver
5) Second Highlight with 25:75 mix of Shining Gold and Mithril Silver
Purple
1) Basecoat Liche Purple
2) Shading Wash with dilute 50:50 mix of Liche Purple and Purple Ink (mixing ink and paint prevents shine)
3) Highlight with Liche Purple and increasing Bleached Bone mixes.
Greenskin Flesh
1) Basecoat Goblin Green
2) Shading Wash of dilute (1:10) Dark Angels Green with a spot of PVA glue mixed in.
(PVA shrinks as it dries and pulls the wash into the gaps)
3) Highlight with Goblin Green
4) Second Highlight with 75:25 mix of Goblin Green and Rotting Flesh
Jeff's Rank and File Skin Technique
1) Basecoat Tallarn Flesh
2) Shading Wash in dilute Vermin Brown
3) Highlight with 75:25 mix of Dwarf Flesh and Elf Flesh
Jeff's Character Skin Technique
1) Basecoat Vermin Brown
2) Highlight Dwarf Flesh
3) Second highlight 50:50 mix of Dwarf Flesh and Elf Flesh
4) Third highlight of Elf Flesh
5) Final highlight of 75:25 mix of Elf Flesh and Bleached Bone
That's all I can remember for now! More to follow.
